Styled Shoot: Just the Two of Us, Year 2020

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Meet me under the Moon and Stars in Leadville, Colorado

I want to welcome a new era of 2021 weddings and couples after this year and recognize we are in uncharted water together.

This year working with engaged couples, and in the midst of planning my own wedding, I’ve seen couples gain a sense of freedom. The pandemic has brought us back to the real purpose of getting married: just the two of you, celebrating together. Small, intimate, and extremely meaningful weddings.

I dream of creating magical and fairy tale story weddings for my Florista couples. This is our first dream, of many, that I am so excited to share with you. Florista Spells Studio, and the following team, will help you to explore what your intimate elopement styled wedding in Leadville, Colorado could look like, or if you’re planning for next year.

From the stylist and owner of Florista Spells, Destinee: I wanted to convey a true Leadville love story and intimate experience. This starts with Leadville, Colorado. A couple who have known each other for years, and have known nothing different than crafting a life of magic and stardust together— so to be married in Leadville was natural. The magic city, where their big day is just the two of them. The celestial theme was inspired by anything blue goes and a bit of rebellion, which I think is a fitting vision for 2021 celebrants.

If you’re looking for help beyond flowers, Florista Spell's offers event design services that encompass all visual elements of your celebration.

Imagine a moment to have fun with no wedding pressure, and letting the moon bring the vibes. We wanted to show the moon swirling with flowers like a galaxy feel, with moody black and white clouds. In light of a world pandemic, the spontaneity leaves the moment feeling light-hearted and full of being in the moment.

We shared this moment with a local couple, Kirstie and Dene’t, and planned the styled shoot for their original wedding date as a celebration of love! They chose not to wear their wedding outfits because they haven’t seen each other in them yet, so all of this was organic.

This elopement style gives couples a moment alone to cherish their day together and then with a small intimate dinner setting later. Where the couple ends up at FREIGHT with a romantic and feminine table-setting for friends and family to join them in the celebration.

I believe this allows newlyweds to be conscious of who welcomes them into marriage. Those around the table, who are now entrusted to become a part of a foundational support system moving forward and lifting their marriage up through the good times and the bad.

Off-site of the venue, we got some amazing photos of my favorite places in Leadville, Colorado that I drive past everyday and always imagined a photoshoot. A little bit of Boom Day’s celebration and ode to our mining history and beautiful scenery that looks like we’ve landed on the moon, this couple owned it.
